Introduction

The Schober Corporation offered a wide range of accessories for the Recital organ, such as Reverbatape, Percussion Group, Schulmerich Chimeatron, combination action, a power amplifier, and various excellent speakers.  Unfortunately, I didn't buy any of those at the time.  However, Alex Kruedener recently gave me a pair of Schober LSS-10A speakers and TR-2 amplifiers.  The speakers are rather large (18"x24"x36") and heavy -- I had to make two separate trips to Vermont to pick them up -- but have excellent low frequency response.

The accessory I did buy is the Library of Stops.  All the stop filters which make the characteristic sounds of the organ are on small circuit cards.  For a modest cost, owners could buy extra stop filter cards and a kit of components for constructing additional filters.  The Library of Stops was supplied with a number of filter designs, but owners were also encouraged to experiment and devise their own.

As a result, many Recital organs have non-standard and in some cases unique stops.  My instrument has a number of reeds which could be described either as "nasty" or "baroque" depending on one's point of view; generally these replace louder but less interesting reeds.

Subassemblies and Accessories

Note that early Recital organs used PNP transistors; the subassemblies in this instrument use NPN transistors but the positive rail of the power supply is grounded for compatibility with the PNP versions.
